Power price trends in Hungary

As the end of 2013 is coming, we can show you how forward power price for 2014 changed this year. (see curve)

After peaking mid February with 48,8 EUR/MWh, we had a downwards trend till summer. Several companies contracted for 2014 this time joining the favourable prices that helped them to save cost relative to this year. Summer hot-wave didn’t cause increase, price was moving in an 2€ range. As market activity increase in September after the holiday season, it made some push upwards of the price. Year-end campaign in November pushed down. Now it is mid December, traders close positions and it generates some increase. The real surprise of the year was the long lasting downwards trend of the first half. Otherwise usual seasonality could be seen.
