New polish RES act enters the final straight

Finally the Polish legislation is getting close to making investors do what they have been  waiting to do for years: invest! RES in Poland is on its final straight! Thee market is gainimg momentum since the opportunity to finally materialize effortrs and dreams is getting concrete: The Energy Commission in the Polish Parliament is currently discussing the long awaited Renewable Energy Act which will be presented at the Parliament sitting for final approval. The Bill has already passed the first reading and public consultations stage.
The Act provides a change in the support scheme – departure from the system of subsidising production of renewable energy based on system of green certificates and move to an auction system based on guaranteed tariffs granted to producers offering renewable energy at the lowest price. The auctions will be conducted seperately for planned RES installations below and above 1MW with only read to build projects allowed to participate.

The Goverment, sponsor of the Act, decided that the Act is compatible with the European Union Regulation GBER and therefore it is exempted from EU notification. As a result the RES Act will come into force end of this year or beginning of next year. Since in 2015 there will be transition period from green certificates to auction scheme, the first auction is scheduled for Q1 of 2016 with the prequalification stage (qualifying projects for participation in auction) starting  from 1st July of 2015.
